The word of the President
Driven by the constant concern to reconcile economic and technological challenges as well as respect for sustainable fishing, AMAIPP federates the owners of pelagic vessels in Dakhla around the common goal of organizing the sector and professionalizing its practices, while favoring concertation between the different actors. This website is the interface of our Association with the general public, the administration and civil society, building on our strong will to share with as many people as possible the stakes of our sector, but also the achievements and the benefits our activity has on Dakhla local economy and on the fishing sector as whole. It will address many expectations and issues related to: • The situation of the sector and its impact on the economy of the Dakhla-Oued Dahab region • Regulations governing the sector • The activities and achievements of the Association and its members We hope the reader will find here the necessary support and practical guidance to better understand our sector.


Who are we?
COMAIP is a professional organization representing shipowners and industries operating in the pelagic fishing sector using RSW vessels in Morocco. Based in Dakhla, it plays a key role in the economic development of the Southern Provinces and contributes to Morocco's prominence in the field of maritime fisheries.
COMAIP’s actions align with the Royal Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, contributing to:
- The economic and social growth of the Southern Provinces.
- Continental integration through innovative and collaborative partnerships.
- Positioning Morocco as a model of sustainable and integrated development in Africa.
COMAIP's contributions to the Halieutis Plan include:
- Support for sustainability: Adoption of responsible practices to preserve marine ecosystems and ensure the sustainable use of resources.
- Enhancement of valorization: Investments in modern technologies and infrastructure to maximize the added value of pelagic products.
- Strengthening competitiveness: Promotion of Moroccan products on international markets and integration of high-quality standards, particularly through the demand for MSC certification.
- Infrastructure development: Collaboration with institutions to optimize ports and equipment dedicated to fishing, particularly fish-water separation towers.

Fleet and Activity
COMAIP’s fleet operates in Zone C, located between Cape Boujdour and Cape Blanc, with Dakhla as the main port of operation. This area is known for its rich fishery resources, particularly small pelagics.- Number of vessels: 27 specialized vessels, including trawlers and seiners equipped with modern technologies, such as RSW (Refrigerated Sea Water) systems.
- Processing industry: COMAIP also represents industrial units and factories specializing in the valorization of seafood products, particularly for export markets. These factories produce: Frozen fish, Canned goods, Fishmeal and fish oil, and other high-value-added products.
Economic Impact and Contribution to Social Development
- Significant contribution to local employment, both in fishing activities and in processing plants. In fact, 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in the sector, representing 30% of the active population in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.
- Strengthening national exports through high-quality production competitive on international markets.
Commitment to Sustainability
COMAIP aligns with national guidelines for the sustainable management of fishery resources, in collaboration with Moroccan authorities and partner institutions. It adopts environmentally friendly practices and supports efforts to preserve marine ecosystems.Indeed, in September 2024, COMAIP unanimously adopted an ethical charter concerning resource preservation, best social practices, and the sustainability of operations while respecting the environment. This ethical charter aims to modernize, professionalize, and anchor the actions of members in line with the Royal High Guidelines regarding the Atlantic Africa Axis.
